Top 10 Biggest Hockey Comebacks

This video showcases some of the top 10 biggest comebacks in NHL history. After watching the video, in my opinion, the top three biggest comebacks of all of the ones in the video were:

  1. New York Rangers vs. Montreal Canadiens,
  2. Calgary Flames vs. Chicago Blackhawks, and
  3. Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins.

I think these were the biggest comebacks because these teams came back from a pretty big deficit. Here are some details each of the games.

Comeback #1: New York Rangers vs. Montreal Canadiens

The score was 5 – 0 when they first started their comeback. The Canadiens first goal was when a player did a cross-ice pass to Ryder who shot and scored. The second goal was scored when someone passed it to Ryder (again!) who shot and scored. The third goal was scored when Kovolov one-timed a shot that went in. The fourth was scored when Ryder brought the puck through the neutral zone into a shot that went into the goal. The fifth, and tying goal, was scored when Kitstivsen passed to Kovolov who one-timed a shot that went in.

Then regulation time ended and they had to go into overtime. No one scored during overtime so they went into a shootout. The sixth, and winning, goal was scored during the shootout when Koifu deked out the goalie for an easy four-hand goal that won the game.

Comeback #2: Calgary Flames vs. Chicago Blackhawks

For this game, the deficit was also 5 – 0. The first goal was scored when John Madden got a rebound and put the puck in the back of the net. The second goal was scored when Boland passed it to Kane who forehand-glided to shot that went in. The third goal was scored when Kane and Boland had a breakaway. Kane passed it to Boland who shot the puck through the goalie’s five hole. The fourth goal was scored when Campbell took a shot that got a rebound that Boland got and scored. The fifth goal was scored when Duncan Keith shot from long range when there was a screen in front of the goalie.

This game went into overtime and, in overtime, Seabrook stole the puck from the the Flames right in front of their goal. He deked out the goalie and got an easy backhand goal.

Comeback #3: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins

This game was 4 -1 when the Bruins made their comeback. The first goal of the comeback was scored when Milan Licic went around the net and passed the puck to Horton who one-timed a shot and scored. The second goal was scored when David Krejčí passed it to Zdeno Chára who one-timed a shot that rebounded off the goalie to Licic who put the puck behind the goalie and into the net. The third goal was scored when Jaromír Jágr passed it to Bergeron who then passed it to Krejčí who passed it back to Bergeron and he shot and scored.

Then the game went into overtime.

The game winning goal was in overtime when Brad Marchand passed it to Bergeron who shot and then got his own rebound and scored.

Conclusion

I like watching hockey because it’s fast game play and many different things could happen that could change a game completely. In my opinion these comebacks are fun to watch because the winning team came back from a pretty big deficit, or they came back and won it in the last couple of minutes.
